Australian of the Year takes on Patriarchy

Grace Tame, Australian of the Year, didn’t smile and make nice to the Australian Prime Minister, and is getting no end of shit — as well as tons of support — for calling out Patriarchy for what it is. This story sums up all that is wrong with Patriarchy better than anything I could write.

Watch this video, listen to what the male reporter has to say, and tell me you don’t get what is wrong with this picture. Women and minorities are constantly silenced by Patriarchy, and now are criticized even when they themselves choose not to make nice with the oppressors and instead remain silent.
